When we planned our trip to Edmonton, the original plan was to head to the mountains and visit Jasper. Unfortunately a very early forest fire season scared us off the original plan, so instead we made the most of it by spending the entire time in Edmonton. Luckily, I have a family in the city so it wasn’t a total loss.

For our first full day in Edmonton, we decided it was worth checking in on the West Edmonton Mall

Having covered the biggest tourist attraction in Edmonton, we caught up on a little shopping and enjoyed the rest of a relaxing day.

On our last trip to Edmonton, we enjoyed the trail system around downtown, so we decided to head back for a walk before it got too warm. We also had more time to explore downtown and the newer development around the Hockey Arena.

We walked through downtown back to the car and had a relaxing afternoon before heading to my cousins place for a lovely family meal and a great visit.

For our last morning in Edmonton, I thought it would be nice to find a different park to explore to stretch our legs before the flight. I found some promising green space on the map, and we headed to MacKinnon Ravine Park for a different view of the North Saskatchewan River.

While not the trip we originally planned, did enjoy the extended long weekend and the opportunity to connect with family. We headed to the airport and back to Toronto.
