San Diego

January 26-28, 2007
AC795 YYZ-LAX, AC792 LAX-YYZ

This was a planned winter break, originally inspired by Air Canada’s new direct flights to San Diego, which ironically we didn’t get to fly.  Based on flight timings, we had always planned to fly into LAX and then drive down the coast.  Our flight was delayed with weather, but we did get out and arrived quite late on Friday night.  The drive to San Diego was easy.  We enjoyed many of our favorite places again, and were happy to have escaped the winter storm.  For the first time we stayed at Mission Bay, a park-filled area near Sea World, which was a nice quiet enclave in the city.  The hotel was under serious renovations, but luckily we got one of the new rooms.  For the flight home I noticed that it was delayed twice, so based on good advice from an AC agent, we ended up driving back to LAX to catch the late Toronto flight home.  We left just before they finally cancelled our original flight from San Diego.  As we got to use the Air New Zealand lounge again, I didn’t complain too much.
