When you travel a lot, there are a lot of metrics that you can track, including the number of countries visited, or the number of cities or states in a given country. Since the US is so vast, it is natural to track how many of the 50 states you've visited, and when you are getting close, sometimes you go out of your way to visit a state. I can honestly say that had I not already been to 49 other states, we wouldn't have planned a trip to Alabama. However, I will also say that I was pleasantly surprised on what we found in Huntsville. Huntsville exists as it does today because of the post WWII US rocket program, much of what can be seen from the NASA Space Centre. In addition to enjoying the warmer weather, we really enjoyed the Space Centre, and I completed the visit to my 50th state.
