When United offered nonstop flights from San Francisco to Singapore, I was really intrigued to check out one of the longest flights from the US to one of my favourite cities in Asia and to earn some miles.  Tom wasn’t really interested in a short trip to Asia or a 17-hour flight, but I did want to see him that weekend so planned to have Friday night and Saturday together before my flight to Singapore.  We met up with our friends Yuka and Robert on Saturday morning and got a nice visit before starting my long journey.  Tom started his trip back to Toronto via Los Angeles and I headed off for Singapore.  I had just over 24 hours in Singapore and took advantage of the opportunity to work in the Singapore office and then had the cooler evening to explore the city.

After a visit with Yuka and Robert by the airport, we jumped on BART to the city to Embarcadero and the Ferry Building.

Luckily i was upgraded to business class, so I arrived relatively well rested and ready for the day.  Singapore is oppressively hot during the day, so I didn't mind spending the day at the office and had a great tour guide in the evening from a friend at work.

I had a morning flight to San Francisco and thankfully another last minute upgrade, and then flew on to Houston for the end of a nice long weekend in Asia.  It’s not something I'd do every weekend, but it was great to see more of Singapore and experience United's longest flight.
