The last family reunion on my mother’s side was in New Brunswick in August 2007. There have been a few new additions to the family since then and at two years it was definitely time for another get together. This was one was quite special in that 100% of my aunts, uncles, and cousins and their children were present. Although no one can say for sure the last time that everyone got together at the same time we’re pretty sure that it had been at least about 30 years. With my cousin Miles coming from South Korea, my cousin Neil and his family coming from Monterrey Mexico, and the rest spread across the country, it was certainly an amazing feat to get everyone together. With the abrupt change in rules requiring visas for Mexicans traveling to Canada it was touch and go if Neil’s wife Marta was going to make it, but thankfully everything came together in the end. The weather was a little dicey at times, but we were creative and made do with everyone pitching in. My cousin Patricia who lives in Edmonton did a great job in organizing it and kept us well fed with some amazing desserts and a wonderful spread on Sunday night.
