Calgary & Montana

Last June we did more or less this same trip, but ended up with some poor weather and found that the highest elevations in Glacier National Park do not clear until July or August.  We wanted to try again and tried to not make the same mistake on the time of year, but instead found that later summer can be the time for forest fires and found that parts of the hotel were closed just prior to our arrival.  The fire was under control when we arrived, but we did see the effects on the scenery and in our lungs as the hotel’s air conditioner pulled in the smoke.  We didn’t let it stop us and put in some great hikes, including one that was pretty rewarding.

Fly to Calgary & spend the night.  Drive to Glacier National Park.
