Palm Springs

The original plan for this trip was for Tom and I to spend some time in Los Angeles and Palm Springs. However, the previous weekend, we went to our first live concert and Tom and everyone we went with, other than myself came out with COVID. Tom’s symptoms were relatively mild, so rather than isolating from each other at home, I let him stay home and made the most of my trip.
Dec 9-10
After a late arrival into LA and a short stay at the airport hotel, I braved the LA freeway traffic to Palm Springs. I was staying right downtown on the main strip, so didn’t have a lot of need for the car. After I arrived, I got in some walks and enjoyed the local cuisine, my pool side veranda, and captured a few pictures.
Dec 11-12
Technically, I didn’t need to be back to LAX until the evening of the 11th, but was concerned about some winter rain storms coming through the mountains. I ended up getting on the road very early in an attempt to get in front of it, but instead ended up driving through some pretty heavy rain. Luckily, there was nothing frozen, and I arrived safely. Since I was early, I hung out around my airport hotel, and flew out the next day home to Toronto, where Tom was still quarantining.
