To manage the cost of travel, I decided to fly to Pittsburgh and have Tom drive in from Toronto to meet me. Unfortunately, Friday afternoon traffic from Toronto was ugly, so Tom didn't arrive until late on Friday night. We did some shopping and explored some new areas of the city on Saturday, and on Sunday finally made it to Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater house. This timeless private residence on the Bear Run river was built in 1935 for the Kaufmann (department store) family. It is a beautiful house, and it’s amazing how the whole house hangs over the flowing waterfall and allows the breeze and sounds of the waterfall to enter the residence. Unfortunately, we could not take pictures inside on the short tour, but the most beautiful perspective is from the outside.
