Ottawa is always a great place to visit in the summer and also a nice opportunity to connect with friends. Coincidentally, we also landed on Pride weekend, with front row seats for the parade. We were originally supposed to travel from Toronto island airport, but with a last minute cancelation and an Air Canada funded taxi, we made it to Ottawa from Pearson and to our downtown hotel before it got too late.
Aug 27
Based in the Byward Market, we were positioned well to visit the downtown area and Parliament Hill. We also took the opportunity to visit the very cool Royal Mint with our friend Lynn.
Unfortunately we weren’t able to take any photos on the very secure mint tour, but do highly recommend it for any trip to Ottawa.
Aug 28
We started the day with a tour of the temporary Senate Cambers in the old Ottawa Railway station, before meeting friends for lunch and running into the Pride Ottawa Parade.
After the parade, we made our way to the airport and back home to Toronto to continue supervision of the final stages of home construction.
