Luckily this year July 1st and July 4th landed around the same weekend and we attended our normal July 4th family festivities in Iowa City.  As it was a short weekend and we started and ended our trip in Chicago, it was unfortunately not possible to visit Tom’s parents in Des Moines, but we did get to see all of the family in Iowa City and enjoyed a nice sunny afternoon around the pool.  Tom did not take many photos during the trip, so nothing to share in the photos, but we did have a great time and enjoyed the opportunity to visit family.
