This was our standard July 4th weekend, delayed by the unfortunate placement of the holiday on a Wednesday. This time, we were hosted in a hotel in Des Moines, and regrettably a number of family members did not make the trip. We spent much of Saturday assisting Tom’s mother and brother Michael with a community event that they were running. I took video, and Tom took pictures of what turned out to be a pretty successful event. Video was probably not the best role for me, as I’d never done before, but it kept me busy. We also had a good time playing cards and enjoyed seeing those who made it. Unfortunately, as we flew into Milwaukee, it made for a lot of driving, although I made good use of my new BlackBerry along the way.
