Thanks to competition from West Jet, Air Canada had some really aggressive pricing to LA that was too good to pass up. In the middle of winter, it does not take much convincing to get me to leave Toronto for warmer climates. By flying back through Calgary, I was able to import some California wine at a reasonable price, since Alberta, unlike Ontario, has reasonable import duties. The weather was great, and the shopping was good, as was the case of the wine that came back with me.
