Late in July we decided to purchase a new house, and this was the last opportunity to travel for a while before we headed into full home renovations mode on the old place. This was the first of what will hopefully be many annual family reunions on my mother’s side of the family. My aunt and uncle own a cottage in Northern Saskatchewan on Candle Lake, and although they were only in the country for a few months this year, they shared it with the family for this long weekend. Although Tom had met much of the family, this was his first trip to Saskatchewan. It wasn’t warm or dry throughout, but we did have some moments of good weather and a number of opportunities for some great food and to visit around the campfire. Also had a couple of minor celebrity sightings as we sat behind Roy Romanow on the way out, and next to Bob Rae on the way home.
